Press Release - Beacon Management, Inc. |
Electronic Waste Management Firm Goes
Green
BMI Receives ISO 14001:2004
Certification
Los Angeles, CA, April 4, 2007 -
Beacon Management Inc. (BMI), one of the nations leading electronics
recycling firms, has embraced the high environmental standards
established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
Following a rigorous Registrar audit, BMI recently earned ISO 14001:2004
certification for its environmental management system.
The competitive nature of today's electronics industry has inevitably
led to a dramatic increase in the rate at which products become
obsolete. BMI partners with electronic manufacturers to manage waste
streams consisting of production scrap, returns, and warehouse excess.
Achieving ISO 14001:2004 certification was a natural step for BMI. Their
facilities already operated under California's strict EPA guidelines.
“Our company has flourished in the most environmentally progressive
state in the country for over 15 years. This certification is really a
statement of the culmination of BMI’s long-standing efforts to bring
green services to our clients,” said Lawrance Goldberg, company
president and founder. “It’s good business, and it’s good policy,”
agreed VP, Corporate Development, Shari Goldberg, “Our OEM and
high-profile accounts need to know that they are partnering with a
company that can mitigate their liabilities while reflecting their
values.”
BMI was assisted in earning its ISO certification by Change Management
Consulting (CMC). No major or minor findings were found during the
extensive Registration Audit conducted by SGS, indicating highly
successful training and preparation.
"BMI represents a growing trend among manufacturers and recyclers, as
well as service organizations, to embrace formal environmental
standards," stated Stanley Cherkasky, CMC's Managing Partner. "They have
demonstrated that going green is a profitable undertaking for all
parties. We are pleased to lend our ISO 14001 expertise to help
organizations enjoy the benefits of becoming environment friendly
through ISO certification."
Due to concerns about global warming and pollution, organizations
worldwide are rapidly moving towards environmental standards. In the
process, they have discovered that being environmentally friendly
typically boosts bottom-line profits. Developing an environmental
management system that is ISO 14001:2004 certified has become the "gold"
standard for far-sighted businesses to broadcast both social
responsibility and astute management to the marketplace.
